Why would someone buy your/my/any art?
I found myself asking this question the other day as I walked around amongst other beautiful artworks.
Putting myself in the position of the buyer not just for the perception of my own art but also if I was in the position to buy any art which would I buy and WHY?
I didn’t quite answer my own question…
Today, I came across this article from Empty Easel -Â Why Would Someone Buy Your Art?
What do you you think?
Have you bought art before? If not why ?
If so, why did you choose the art you did? and did you buy an original as opposed to a print ? Why?

I have bought art. Both original oil on canvas and prints. But i have never go out looking specifically to buy art. I guy pieces that reach out and grab me as I am walking by. Pieces that speak to me on a deep level. Often I have fallen in love with the piece, decided it was too expensive/indulgent, walked away for a coffee or even gone home. But the piece haunts me. I need to have it. So I return and buy it and love it for ever more!
Sorry I was not insightful as to the psychology of the purchase. But the artwork i have on my walls needs to reflect a deep part of who I am. xxx
That is great Rachel its actually great to know, it was actually one of the thoughts i came up with that people buy on the FEELING the art gives them by owning it or seeing it on their wall everyday
Thanks for your comments
I have bought art, i have never bought originals mainly because I just can not afford it, I stick to prints, greeting cards etc.
I buy art that I myself would create, as I paint faeries, mermaids etc – that is what I am drawn to. It reflects me as a person, bit of a dreamer with my head in the clouds!
