Red Onions Painting

“Red Onions” by Belinda Lindhardt

I saw these glorious red onions at the vegetable shop still attached to their green bits :)   It’s rare that you see these like this and thought how great they would be to paint – I think I might be a bit strange to be inspired by fruit and vegetables…

Latest Coloured Pencil Artwork – WIP

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

blog_pic_041

Here is my latest work in progress (WIP), which i started as a result of needing something for the coloured pencil demo i was doing at the recent exhibition. This one is on colourfix paper, which is a sanded support,  which for me means i can be a bit quicker about than i would if it was on smooth paper, and also means i can be a bit heavy handed and “rougher” than what would be normally in my style.

The reference is my own photo i took myself in a still life setup :) Enjoying this one.

Pear Green Leaf, Colored Pencil on Stonehenge

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Started a new coloured pencil piece today.
I have to say even though this one is a still life and not a life model, my life drawing classes are really coming into play as to “seeing” things.  As i have said before you really need to know how to “see” even if you are working from photos  and drawing from life and sketching helps you practice this. Anyway, enough ranting, maybe my eyes are just not listening to my brain anymore :)

So here is the WIP, its a still life, 11X14″ or 27.9 X 35.5cms. I am really liking this sizing, its not too large but big enough to hold a presence once framed. Currently I am working on backgrounds etc and  it doesn’t seem “too big” to be overwhelming to get the colour down. So as you can see it’s ugly stages just for you as i know how much you guys love my WIPS.

I am purposely taking notes as i work with this one, all for my workshop in October, i like to be prepared so the notes will convert to lessons and articles over time that will help with the workshop and a few other little projects i have in mind.
Hope you enjoy !

Apple Green – Coloured Pencil on Board, WIP

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009
076 Apple Green

Here is one i have whipped up :) Not quite finished yet but for those of you who like WIPs (works in progress) thought i would post for you all.

The aim of this one was to try out some Pastelboard which was recommended to me by my fellow cp artist Richard. I haven’t had much inspiration of late, and the reference is from a bunch of stilllife photos i setup and took some time ago. Sometimes you just need to do art that doesnt really have much meaning other than a colour or subject that you like :)

Here below are the stages :)
