Work in progress – Coloured pencil on Canson Coloured Paper
75X55cm
Art takes ENERGY, it takes energy to think about what you are going to do, how you are going to do it, and then ACTION and TIME to actually do the work. I am not talking so much physical energy (surprisingly it can take this) I am talking more of the mental energy to stop whatever else is going on in your head and spend the time on art when everything else seems so much more pressing such as you know – feeding those things called children (you know they need feeding EVERYDAY!!! those things!!) and keeping a roof over our heads.
Hence this artwork as been sitting on my board for a bit of a while now and I have been working at a bit of a stalled pace. Having a pause- however, sometimes lets you see things in a new and different light, the same way as when one door closes another one open and things can be changed according to whats working and what not. It sounds slightly negative but I am choosing to look at it in a positive light.
As the year presses on, it again is time for a bit of a review of what has been working and what has not in various areas with work and art and I have just come to realise that next month is June, and next month I will be doing 2 coloured pencil workshops for the CCAS and I have some exhibitions coming up – How did that come around so quickly? and ekkk i better pull my finger out and get organised! More info about the workshops will come shortly. I am hoping to do something different this year! as well as something for those who haven’t been to my workshops before.
For now though, Best be off to enjoy my mothers day! Happy Mothers Day to all the mums – enjoy every moment !
